Abbott (makers of Humira) reported today that their Phase Two testing of their experimental psoriasis drug ABT-874 showed “outstanding” effectiveness. Nothing should make psoriasis patients feel better than seeing biotech companies in a can-you-top-this battle to help us.

ABT-874 is an anti IL-12 monoclonal antibody that would be self-injected like Enbrel, Raptiva and Humira. Anti IL-12 treatments were addressed briefly in this Psoriasis Cure Now Podcast, and you can learn more about potential psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis treatments in clinical trials at the page we call Hope.

ABT-874 still faces Phase Three trials and FDA regulatory hurdles, meaning if it ever reaches patients, it would be at least several years away.
