Four Finalists have been named in the 2008 Psoriasis Cure Now Video Contest. Each Finalist has won at least $500, and one of these will win a Grand Prize of $5,000 later this month.
The Finalists are:
What Could You Do In 4 Years? by Lamar Crammer
Psoriasis_Nana by Michael Rutherford
Beach / PsoriasisCureNow ‘08 Serious Track by Javier Colon Rios
What you would miss by TJ Federico
Before we pick the Grand Prize winner, we need YOUR advice about which video is best. Through August 18th, your comments below will be considered before we judge the videos one last time and select a Grand Prize winner. Remember the mission: create a 15 or 30 second video that will educate the public about the startling fact that severe psoriasis has been shown to reduce life expectancy by an average of four years. You can watch the four Finalists right here:

Your comments can be added below. Simply click on the “COMMENT” link and tell us which video should be the Grand Prize winner and why. (Note: we love all these videos, so if your comment is unduly negative about any of the Finalists, we will not post your comment. Constructive criticism is allowed, but better yet, focus on what is good about your favorite Finalist.)
And one last thing. There were 35 other videos in the Serious track, including several EXCELLENT videos that we would have loved to honor. Click here to tell us which videos NOT selected as Finalists should have been!
Thanks for your help. Congratulations to all the Finalists, and good luck to all as we prepare for the Grand Prize selection.

What you would miss, is so sad
I loved it though!
I’d like to see the “Beach” by Javier Colon Rios winning the Grand Prize as it’s so touching and beautifully filmed. I can easily identify myself in it and could imagine my new boyfriend reacting similarly. All of the clips were good, but this was brilliant!
what you would miss is the best.
Real heart warming.
‘What you would miss’ is by far the best video.
I work for a non-profit and its important to keep your PSA message simple and to the point. This video is successful not only in delivering a message but also in appealing to the emotions
Wow how powerful – what I could do in four years addressing the hugs and kisses and family. What a great PSA about the affects of psoriasis!!!!
What You Would Miss was great. Those of us voting, by the time we got to it probably all had a tear in our eye.
As someone who submitted to the Serious Track and is a finalist in the Humor (for Playground), I have to applaud the creator of “What You Would Miss”. It’s wonderful and hits all the right notes without being too baity or sentimental. Bravo, I’m rooting for you to win this track.
“What you would miss”,
Presented hope in what research
can do. The women lived with this
debilitation for years and the film shows how strong one can be.
Anticipation and participation is
What you would miss without this fine film.
Psoriasis_Nana. Professional, conveys the topic most clearly (even for someone that does not know it was a contest on this topic), and conveys the most relevant information. Looks good, too. You can picture this one playing during the Late Show.
I was moved by the “Beach” by Rios. Not only is it the best looking of the videos, but it also strikes me as being the most original and the most emotional. It also clearly delivers the message and actually tells an entire story in its short time, one that showed how psoriasis can effect a person’s daily life.
Surprised by the quality of work over all. But Beach is most appealing. It makes me care.
“Beach” by Javier Colon Rios in my opinion stands out as it draws in the attention of also younger people. Knowing people who live with serious skin conditions, I think it’s great that the clip points out the enormous emotional impact throughout your life as well as the four year-message. This is also a very professional and presentable video.
I love the “Psoriasis is emotional” video the best. We are so used to seeing the other kinds of commercials but making it relevant to young people is so original and fresh. I hope you pick this one.
The one on the beach is beautifully filmed and really seems to hit at how the disease can effect anyone at any stage of life. Nothing against the others, but the beach was really fantastic. Great job!
I submitted a serious video and didn’t make the final cut. Though I was disappointed, I knew I wouldn’t win, because it’s obvious that What you would miss is the best.
Beach was the best video. Very entertaining, and educating too.
As a mother, the last line in “What you would miss” went straight to my heart. I showed it to a friend , and watched his reaction. He placed his hand over his heart and teared up. Very touching video.
“Beach” looks the most professional and actually affected me the most.
It is definitely between “what you would miss” and the “beach” for me. I think the “beach” has more of a universal appeal because some of the younger crowd might not appreciate or connect with ‘what you would miss’. Beach has my vote.
This for me was a great video, I have a friend in Ireland has Psoriasis but I never knew it could take 4 years off your life. The video was hard hitting put to the point and aimed to the youth, it has me wanting more information on Psoriasis.
Nice vids. The beach video gets my vote, for there’s an actual storyline in just 30 seconds, no mean feat.
What you would miss – I work in a Dermatologist office here in Myrtle Beach, SC – we see cases of psoriasis every day – this movie is very well put together and deals well with the emotional side of the affliction.
“What Would You Miss” really made me miss my Grandmother. Its a very touching PSA.
I thought the Beach by Javier Colon Rios just hit the spot for me. The video pointed out the most vulnerable side of having outer imperfections because of the way people react towards them and how that effects on us who have them.
“What You Would Miss” touches my heart. Especially the last line, which makes you realize, the loss of time this takes away from someone’s life. I never realized, now I do. Great job!
I love What you will miss.
All those I love you’s is totally worth find help for those affected.
I thought all the videos were great, but the one that touched me most was “What you would miss”. It really made me think of how important we are to one another.
‘What would you miss’ touched me, it was personal, it was real and it made me think of the sorrow that the she is going through and what potentially she may miss in her life.
My vote goes to, “What You Would Miss”.
It made me think of how prescious time is, and how important we are to one another.
The Beach thing is the best since it actually makes me wanna see it several times and it looks like real broadcast quality – amazing job! The second one is the one with Mona Lisa – for the same reasons, actually…
“Beach” was appealing to individual emotions not only showing an intimate/vulnerable moment in a person’s life but also with its enchanting setting. What makes it work is the combination of insecurity and self-conscious emotion into something positive, which in this case is the beautiful environment and the smooth way the filming work is done to create a storyline.
