Seven Finalists named in 'Humor' track of 2008 Psoriasis Video Contest
Seven Finalists have been named in the 2008 Psoriasis Cure Now Video Contest. Each Finalist has won at least $500, and one of these will win a Grand Prize of $5,000 later this month.
The Finalists are:

Before we pick the Grand Prize winner, we need YOUR advice about which video is best. Through August 18th, your comments below will be considered before we judge the videos one last time and select a Grand Prize winner. Remember the mission: create a 15 or 30 second video that uses humor to educate the public about the fact that psoriasis is a serious disease that negatively impacts quality of life. You can watch the seven Finalists right here:

Really like "Ben". Keeps me interested while hitting on all the major points. Reminds me of the old tootsie pop ads. Nice work.
Without a doubt, "BEN" is my choice for the best video up here. This one really hits the nail on the head and deserves to win
I agree with TJ here, Ben is on point. Easy on the eyes. Warms the heart. Tickles the soul. Ben does for Psoriasis what Mr. Owl did for Tootsie Pops. A must win or "the world may never know."

It's hard to top Playground. That one could literally be on TV. Help Psoriasis Research Go Farther is the one with the message that could actually make a cure happen.
I liked Playground but second choice is Ben.
I warm to the playground video. Fun and sobering at the same time.
Playground is the best. It's informational, entertaining, and really gets the message across. Animation on Ben is terrific but one watches that rather than listening to the information.

I'm digging the playground one personally. All are pretty good, but that one seems highly professional. Congrats to all.
The problem with this question and these comments is it matters whether these videos are for TV or YouTube. If it's for TV, then Living with Psoriasis and Help Research could win. If it's for a viral YouTube audience, then God's Office and Psoriasis is Bad have a chance. But God and Bad are not going to work for TV. Playground is TV-worthy, and also works on YouTube. The question is: does Ben work on TV, or just YouTube? Derek's Dance is a nice message but technically can't compete with these others.
I liked several of them--very creative, clever and funny! My favorite was the Playground--kids get me every time.
I agree with others, I do think that PLayground is definitely TV material. Great job and very professionally done.
The playground speaks to the reality of the gravitas of the issue and yet gets it's point across with humor. It is broadcast ready which I find amazing.Following Playground, the animated piece would be my second choice.
Playground and Ben are both attention getters and need no reworking. I really like the contrast of smiling kids saying such grave realities of the disease. Very original. I think that's probably more likely to motivate people to act and learn more.
"Living with Psoriasis" is my choice. I think it would look really good on TV and it is funny and informative in all the right proportions. There is something very "itchy" about the video :)
I think the playground video was the best - it had all the right elements while still maintaining that serious message that will really hit home with a lot of people.
I LOVED Playground. It really hit the point, without any self pity, it was funny, fun, and very effective in driving the message!
My vote is for the "Living with Psoriasis" video -- it's funny, relevant to people of all age groups (not just kids have psoriasis!) and educational as well.

I think the one with Ben franklin caters to the humor of a younger generation and would also get more attention from everyone.

It's a hard fight "Living with Psoriasis" .
My skin isn't tough enough to live with a dancing masked man dressed in black following me around. It would get anyone down.
"Living with Psoriasis" dishes the dirt on this ancient , and uncomfortable condition.
I vote for the Playground one. It's very professional - it's the only one that could just go straight onto a TV commercial. But I also got the most information out of that one, in terms of symptoms and the way psoriasis affects lives - but in a light way that kept my attention.
Although I never knew before that Ben Franklin had psoriasis!
"ben" was my favorite... very clever and cute! it included an important historical figure, and the impact of the disease on his life...many people may have not known that..or even what psoriasis is, before seeing this psa.
S Arthur and B Harris are on point. The Playground I could TOTALLY see on TV. It was clear, concise and who doesn't love kids talking about serious adult topics with smiles on their faces!! ;) Ben is good, but a close second in my opinion.
I liked Playground - well shot, looks professional, gets the point across.
My favorite was "Living with Psoriasis." I found it very amusing and informative. I defintely see this commerical playing on television.

My vote goes to "Playground". Although "Ben" is probably outright funnier, I really felt the message got lost under the silliness, whereas in Playground, the humor was more incidental and organic and the message came through loud and clear. And that's the most important thing for a PSA, I would think.
i like the "living with psoriasis" video because it is original and different. it clearly represents how annoying it is to have to live with psoriasis and it does it in serious yet funny way.
While the Ben Franklin one is excellent animation, the Playground video has much more universal appeal. Having children saying lines that are wise beyond their years is always funny.

I like Playground the best, but also the $1 one.
I really enjoyed PLAYGROUND! The kids are so cute and they deliver the info in a way where it shocks you -- so you want to learn more.
Living With Psoriasis - PSA by Katie Carman, seemed to have the perfect combination of humor and infomercial to me.
Second choice would be Playground.
"Ben", the animation, is the best! Second runner up: the kids at the playground. However, Ben is funnier, I actually watched it several times for some reason. Funny voices are... funny!!
Congrats to all though for a job well done.

Playground was my favorite. I watched them all and really felt that the point came through loud and clear. It was a brilliant idea to have the kids. Also, it was very professional looking. And, easy to understand!
If your not too hung-up on being serious - the Living With ..PSA is fuunnnnny. Very Flight of the Concords in a great way.
"BEN", in my opinion is very interesting, very funny and is the most informative.
Most of these were pretty good, some looked more professional than others. I liked the "Playground" one the most as it looked professional and had a clear point of view that, while humorous, made an important point -- one that resonates after the spot was over.
I LIKE "LIVING WITH PSORIASIS'. IT IS FUNNY AND MAKES A STATEMENT.
BEAUTIFULLY DONE.

I think they're all very creative...but "Living with Psoriasis" stands out as the most informative and entertaining PSA.
Living With Psoriasis is the only one that made me laugh out loud, which is what comedy is about, right? It's absurd yet informative.

I think that the Kids on the Playground was the most affective (and entertaining)! It really got the message across.
"Living with Psoriasis" hits on the fundamental chord of how annoying both psoriasis and mariachi bands really can be. Keep up the good work.
"Living With Psoriasis" got my vote!! Straight to the point and made me giggle! I would be beating that crazy masked man and hopefully that's what will happen to psoriasis! Good Job!!!!!
"Ben" belongs on tv...Humorous and informative, it simultaneously captures your attention and stands out from other ads.
Playground was best in my book - funny and informative.
Nice videos everyone- all different takes. My fav. is “Living with Psoriasis” It's funny and true. Anybody w/ a chronic ailment or disease will get this. Its always at the back of your mind and you wish it would just go away. I wanted to push that guy too! Cure Now!
I vot for "Living With Psoriasis" because it presented a great visual analogy.
This video is a great tool for promoting awareness of this disease, becuase it shows what psoriasis really is: always there, often annoying, but sometimes life-threatening.
Some of the other videos are very good,but Ben, in my opinion,is the best. The idea of getting the message across with the kids, and the manner in which it was done, is extremely creative and makes an impact on me to take action more than the others. Very Well Done.
The playground one is the one which caught my attention the most because it was visually catching and kept me engaged enough to listen to the material being presented.
Living with Psoriasis really shakes my maracas.

Hilarious! The "Living with Psoriasis" by Katie Carmen is too amazing. I was laughing out loud-- and psoriasis ain't funny...
I think the little kids one is the best choice. Makes its point without being over the top about it. Also most professional looking.
I liked Living With Psoriasis because I have a similar skin condition and it really reflected the torture that I go through every day in a creative and cute way. I hope it wins!

I vote for "living with psoriasis." It's funny & informative.
If you think about really memorable ads ( fried eggs from the "your brain on drugs" campaign, smoky the bear, ronald mcdonald, even that verizon guy), they all have a strong enduring image. If this is going to be the voice of your campaign, I say go with Living with Psoriasis. That mariachi with his maracas following the girl will last in people minds long after words fade away. I can see that being a lasting symbol for your cause. Good luck to you.
"Living with Psoriasis" made me realize what my friend who has this goes through. She has a bad case, visible all over every part of her, including her face. I hope a cure is found soon.

"Living With Psoriasis" should win. The omnipresent maraca man is a unique, unforgettable metaphor, (also Very funny) and best equipped to change the minds of decision makers who wrongly view this ailment as a mere annoyance.
I enjoyed all of these, especially Psoriasis is Bad.

Wow, all of these are great! I liked "Living with Psoriasis" the best because it showed how psoriasis affects all aspects of your daily life: shopping, on a date, hanging out, at the park, etc. A lot locations for a short PSA! Also liked the animation style for "Ben." Very neat looking.
"Living with Psoriasis" did the best job of actually achieving all the goals of humor, awareness, education, and fundraising. The humor was the best because it was rooted in the sad truths of psoriasis itself. So it made you laugh and think at the same time. You learned about the disease, and laughed in sympathy with the person in the video, an emotional response that could actually generate more financial donations, which is after all, the goal.
Several of these are very clever (love the Ben Franklin one), but I think "Playground" would get the most attention. Cute kids are hard to top.
"Living With Psoriasis" got the point across most clearly, showing how annoying, irritating, embarrasing and frustrating the disease must be.
"Living with Psoriasis" gets my vote too! Very funny - down with the Crazy Masked Mariachi Man!! (and psoriasis!!!)
Playground gets my vote. Puts a good face on a worthwhile cause, best balance of humor and information, and it's got the best production value of all of them - would go on air and look like it belongs there.
psoriasis is bad takes the cake in my opinion.
i think Ben leaves a memorable experience with its humor that easily lets the audience know the seriousness of the disease. I also like the style the Ben has, it is not a pretty makeup commercial but a skin disease, and it fits in perfectly. I see it as a change in today's fancy graphics with all the sparkly effects in most ads. This isnt about pretty images people should see deeper than that.
I did enjoy the Playground one, but Posriasis is Bad. topped them all!
Really loved the Playground. The kids are fabulous and I believe it gets the point across.
