With Congress in recess and lawmakers in their home districts for the month of August, this is a great time for those who care about psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis to visit their federal lawmakers and urge them to support our campaign to get psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis research adequately funded.
This has not been the case for the last decade. The federal government increased spending on other diseases by 99% during the last decade, even after inflation. But psoriasis research funding fell by 8% during that time.
If you are visiting your Congressional office this month for any reason or with the backing of any group (everyone from dairy farmers to home builders make these visits to Congressional offices this month), or attending a Congressional Town Hall meeting, please bring along the document below and discuss it in your meeting. Literally millions of dollars in research funding is on the line.
In addition, please email us at hometownmeeting@psorcurenow.org, and we will help you arrange your meetings and prepare for you individually crafted memos for your lawmakers that explain the importance of psoriasis research with an eye to your lawmakers' particular interests and Congressional Committees.
Thanks for your support! The as many as seven and a half million Americans with psoriasis, plus their families, thank you.
