Singer songwriter LeAnn Rimes has disclosed that she has psoriasis. The 26 year-old entertainer is part of a new national awareness campaign funded by the pharmaceutical company Abbott, and run by the American Academy of Dermatology and the National Psoriasis Foundation. Abbott makes Humira, a biologic approved for several diseases, including moderate to severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. The campaign is called "Stop hiding and start living with psoriasis."
Given how perfect her skin looks--although retouching of entertainers' photos makes it impossible to know how they really look--it's important to note that the way her skin looks does not reflect reality for many of the people Psoriasis Cure Now works with on a daily basis. Psoriasis will really have arrived when a famous person with visible psoriasis becomes outspoken about this noncontagious and painful disease.
In the meantime, thanks LeAnn for sharing your story, and congratulations on finding a treatment that works for you!
