Privacy and Security
Psoriasis Cure Now is a project of the nonpartisan, nonprofit Framers Institute, Inc. (“PCN”).
PCN is committed to safeguarding your privacy and security online. Based on the ePhilanthropy Code of Ethical Online Philanthropic Practices, we have developed the following policy to help you understand how your personal information will be treated as you make full use of our offerings. This policy may change from time to time, so please check back periodically.
PCN PRIVACY POLICY
PCN takes your privacy very seriously. Our primary goal in collecting information from you is to provide you with a smooth and customized experience while you use our services. Except as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy or as required by law, we do not disclose any personally identifiable information about you to any third party without your permission. Of course, we might share aggregated (group) information about our supporters and visitors; in other words, we might announce that X thousand people visited a certain web page, but we would not disclose who those visitors were.
Your Acceptance of These Terms
Your continued use of this site signifies your assent to the PCN Privacy Policy. This policy is periodically reviewed by PCN and may be subject to change. If you still have questions or concerns regarding PCN’s privacy policy, please contact PCN at info @ psoriasis-cure-now.org.
1. How do I opt out of receiving messages from PCN?
Every email you receive from PCN will include an easy and quick way for you to unsubscribe from receiving future mailings. In addition, you can unsubscribe by emailing us at any time. We’re here to educate, not annoy. If or when you no longer want to work with us, just unsubscribe.
2. How does PCN use cookies?
When you visit our site, we place a cookie on your computer so we do not keep showing you an offer to receive our free psoriasis treatment tips newsletter. You are free to delete this cookie (in most browsers, by going to preferences, then privacy, then cookies, then delete the cookie), but then you will see that offer again. We have no current plans to use cookies in any other way.
3. What information does PCN gather and track?
We collect only that information you email to us or send to us via a form on the website. If you sign up with your email address or make a financial contribution, we collect the information you submit.
Discussion Boards/Letter-writing features
If you choose to post messages on our Discussion Boards or leave other feedback, or write to public entities through our website tools, we may collect such information about you as you choose to disclose; and we may excerpt on our website and in our public materials your comments to those public officials, but only after we strip out all information (name, city, etc.) that could enable someone to identify you.
4. How does PCN use my information?
PCN uses your information on an aggregated basis to do such things as operate our site and enhance our site. We statistically analyze site usage to improve the content, layout, and services of the PCN site, as well as to enhance our marketing and educational efforts.
We also share aggregate information about our members with third parties, such as potential contributors or partners, for marketing and educational purposes. However, we do not disclose any personally identifiable information about you to any third party without your permission.
Finally, we may use the information we collect to occasionally notify you about important functionality changes to the web site, new PCN initiatives, and other psoriasis-related projects.
The following describes some of the ways your information may be used:
a. Your contact information is used to send you information about PCN and our educational campaigns. We also use this information to contact you when necessary.
b. Your unique IP address is used only when we need to diagnose technical problems with our site.
c. Any information you provide to us through a form requesting technical support is used for that specific situation only.
d. Any information you submit in a survey is used to help us better understand and serve our members. This research is compiled and analyzed on an aggregated, group basis, and we may share this aggregated data with third parties. We may use more identifiable data internally to, for example, match our emails to your interests, but we will not disclose personally identifiable inforamtion to third parties without your consent.
5. Does PCN share my information?
As a general rule, except as otherwise contemplated in this Privacy Policy, PCN will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information without your permission except under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. If personally identifiable data about you will be shared, we will tell you, whenever possible, before we collect or transfer the data.
Business Partners:
PCN may disclose your personal information to business partners, but this is specifically described to you prior to data collection or prior to transferring the data. For example, we have third party companies who process our credit card contributions and handle our banking—they, obviously, need access to your voluntarily supplied data to process any contribution you choose to make.
Our business partners have separate privacy and data collection practices. PCN has no responsibility or liability for these independent policies. For more information regarding the partner or service and their privacy policies, return to that partner’s home page and click on their Privacy Policy link.
Agent:
We employ other companies and individuals who are subject to confidentiality obligations, to perform functions on our behalf. Examples may include sending postal mail and e-mail, removing repetitive information from member lists, analyzing data, providing marketing assistance, and providing customer service. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.
Third Party Campaigns:
Occasionally, PCN may inform you about campaigns by like-minded organizations that are consistent with our mission. By requesting more information or by following up with such third parties, you give PCN permission to transfer your personal information to the partner so they can fulfill your request.
Disclosure and Other:
PCN may disclose or access account information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it or for the protection of our legal rights. PCN may also disclose information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating our policies.
6. How private is my account information?
PCN makes every effort to ensure the confidentiality of all information you provide about yourself. As a general rule, PCN will not disclose any of your personally identifiable information without your permission except in special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that the law requires it. If personally identifiable data about you will be shared, we will tell you, whenever possible, before we collect or transfer the data.
If and when PCN makes chat rooms, guest books, discussion boards, or other means of online communication and collaboration available to its members, please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information. You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information in a public forum such as a chat room, guest book, message board, or when you invite others to join the PCN site or mailing list, or vice versa.
7. How secure is my account information?
PCN uses industry standard efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of your personally identifiable information, such as firewalls and Secure Socket Layers. We make every effort to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. In addition, we—and our partners—always use a secure connection if you choose to make a financial contribution. However, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
8. How does PCN protect Children’s Privacy?
The safety of children is very important to us. No information should be submitted to or posted at the PCN website by children under the age of 13 (“Children”). This policy only addresses the activities of PCN. Other sites not owned by us (including those that we link to) may have their own policies, which we do not control and which are not addressed by this policy. Parents, please keep an eye on what your children see on the Web.
