Description and Comments

Alga Dunaliella Bardawil, a plant rich in beta-carotene, is being tested for its ability to relieve psoriasis symptoms in conjunction with UVB light therapy. Beta-carotene gives carrots their orange color and is converted into Vitamin A in the body. Compounds related to Vitamin A, including acetretin (Soriatane), have been shown to effectively treat psoriasis. Beta-carotene may also help to protect the skin against side effects of UVB therapy.
