Description and Comments
CRx-191 is a topical steroid cream that may be able to provide the benefits of high potency steroids with fewer side effects such as skin thinning. It works by combining a medium potency steroid, mometasone, with the tricyclic antidepressant nortriptyline. The nortriptypline enhances the anti-inflammatory effects of the mometasone but not the undesirable side effects. In a Phase IIa clinical trial, CRx-191 was significantly better than mometasone alone at reducing the thickness and redness of psoriasis plaques.
