Description and Comments

Fluphenazine is an anti-psychotic drug that is FDA approved to treat schizophrenia. However, in a laboratory setting, fluphenazine has also been shown to slow the growth of the T cell, a type of immune cell. Abnormal behavior of T cells is thought to cause psoriasis symptoms, so a drug that slows T cell growth might be an effective psoriasis treatment. As of June 2010, a phase II study of the effects of fluphenazine injected directly into psoriasis plaques was in progress.
