Description and Comments

Women with psoriasis often get considerable relief from their symptoms during pregnancy, particularly during the third trimester. This has led researchers to investigate whether certain molecules that circulate in the mother's blood during pregnancy might have an anti-psoriasis effect. One such molecule is alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). MM-093, a genetically engineered version AFP, is being tested as a potential treatment for psoriasis and other autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis.
