Description and Comments
VB-201 is a phospholipid analog from VBL Therapeutics' proprietary
Lecinoxoid family that is an oral medicine designed to have anti-inflammatory effects. According to the company, "VB-201 is believed to act by inhibiting the
production of the pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-12/23p40 by dendritic
cells and macrophages."
As of September 2010, the company was recruiting patients in the US and elsewhere for a Phase Two trial of VB-201 in psoriasis.
VBL Therapeutics also believes the treatment may also prove useful for patients with
rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis (MS) and atherosclerosis.
The company is based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
